Nurse Practitioners (NP) are registered nurses who have acquired knowledge and
skills through an advanced program of study. This advanced training enables the NP
to practice in an expanded role as a medical professional. In Texas, the Board of Nurse
Examiners regulates all NP practice and licensure. In addition, NPs must be certified by
a national board.
Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (PNP) have been working to provide quality healthcare to children with pediatricians
and other healthcare providers for over thirty years. PNPs serve as primary healthcare providers for well and ill children
of all ages. PNPs offer a variety of services including: health maintenance care for children such as well child
examinations, developmental screenings, diagnosing and treating common childhood illnesses, providing anticipatory
guidance regarding common child health concerns, and performing school physicals.
Erin is certified by the National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses. She is a Fellow of the
National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and has been working with Dr. Ellis since 2001.
